I almost “lost it” when she mentioned, with a straight face, that her mother was very disappointed when so many of them went back to the states….. and she never found out why.

If a Canadian professor of Black History could not tell her own mother about the broken promises, the stories of these blacks cultivating the worse tracts of land by hand until they were good enough to be taken away….

I would not want her near my children.

She would simply tell them that the white man did not start slavery and that blacks sold some of these slaves too.

I have never heard a white get into the huge difference between the lot of a slave (thousands of years of records) and that of a group of people who were unfortunate to be controlled for 500 years by the last set of humans to swing down from the trees (Robin Hood and the Magna Carta) and who could not control themselved in a civilized manner.

The whitewash will also paint over the information that is coming out in the last few years. Blacks are moving away from past customs and are now “digging” into their past.

An example is the records that are being taken out of the sands in Timbuktu and are now being translated.

I would not be surprised if a bomb fell by *mistake* and took all these records away.

An englishman who loved cricket and knew the names of the West Indian players found the war records that were *destroyed* in Britain.

Would they make the same mistake again.

when white people try to get on the topic of black things like slavery and civil rights in regular american history class, they often dont really put much into it. they touch the surface and rarely go further.

while no one is alive from slavery, many are alive from civil rights, and many blacks have probably dealt with some form of racism in their lifetime. young and old. some of it blatant and some of it closeted and hidden well.

a black teacher should teach black history, simply because they will probably have more heart and soul in the subject. and will go deeper than just the surface. it means more to them because it literally is their history. white people honestly are not capable of handling black issues. white can not and will never understand what its like to be black in america. there is more to black history than just slavery and civil rights.

im biracial and i like history and its painful enough for me to like things knowing that my black side was never accepted. and i never really got to learn much about black history growing up and i really want to know more about it.

if its one thing i noticed was that when i had black teachers in school (although not for history) i always felt different around them than i did around white teachers.

there were some white teachers i liked and got along with…but the black teachers were more strict and kind of more challenging and i always felt more safe around them….like either they understood me deep down or they knew what it was like growing up a minority in america.

the problem with some white teachers is they want to treat everyone the same way, without paying attention the individual needs each person.

white and black are not the same, pretending we all are, is detrimental to the child. as the core issues will always remain unattended.

Who ever said all white people were smart & honest? that sounds like racial profiling to me. Also Caucasians are a minority in the world population, maybe they are just insecure.

It helps to know there were other people enslaved in the world long before they showed up in North America. While there are many sordid details attached to the slavery in what became the United States, it was a barbaric human practice, in which many races were complicit. My best bet is most blacks today never experienced actual slavery, unless it was Curt Flood.

Many white people gave their lives to facilitate the end of US slavery. No credit for that, I suppose they deserved it. My family in both Europe & the US never owned a slave. If I personally did, it wouldn’t be a black. Hmmm that sounds racist. OK, some can be black, but I prefer to despoil Caucasians, Asians & Eurasians first. If I’m owning slaves, I demand my rights. Right or wrong.

A few examples of what burns my black butt:
This week, the history channel spent an hour telling all about the Greeks and the lost city of Atlantis.
55 minutes into the praises, there was a 10 second clip that they first heard these stories of Atlantis from the Egyptians.

Thousands of West Indian and Millions of Indians soldiers fought for the British for hundreds of years but these records were *lost* when the Germans bombed the records office during the second world war. After a great deal of pressure and an apology from the queen, thousands of boxes of *destroyed records* were *discovered* in 2002

I would not know if they really do not know the truth or if they are on the regular paint job.
