Professional music critic blog

I’m a professional music critic - I write for many websites so if you are into music you’ve probably read my stuff. This blog will consist primarily of my thoughts on music, but of course there’ll be digressions.

I’ll try to update regularly, even if it’s just a list of what I’m listening to.

Right now, for example, I’m listening to Archie Shepp’s Live in San Francisco. Earlier this morning I was listening to the Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique, and Motorhead Overnight Sensation.

The other CDs I’ve brought with me to the office today are:

Arch Enemy, Wages Of Sin
Peter Brötzmann/Fred Van Hove/Han Bennink, Balls
Dave Burrell, Echo
Sonny Clark, Cool Struttin’
Alice Coltrane, Ptah, the El Daoud
Miles Davis, Water Babies
Decapitated, Nihility
El-P, Fantastic Damage
Squarepusher, Do You Know Squarepusher (but only the live second disc)

I don’t have a whole lot to say this morning. So I’ll just say hi :-)

hello, I would like a review of the music my band has written recently. so far I only have my own review.

    good afternoon,

here at melting sound we think our own music is just great, and since no has every heard of us it seems fitting to do our own review.

    1) We are a pretty big thing, in fact we have many leather bound books.
    2) every song writing session starts with beer and jokes.
    3) every song writing session ends with screaming at each other about politics or religion.
4)Melting Sound plays in a basement.
5)One guitarist is a White farm boy
6)One guitarist is a refugee from Burma
    7)The drummer is East Indian
8)The bass player is really just the same Burmese guy that plays guitar, but through the magic of editing it can be down.
    9)we try really hard.
    10) we are very good at list making.

all in all you should now be convinced to go have a listen. http://www.myspace.com/meltingsound
